I’m living the dream

Not the American dream, but rather the Alaskan one. Truth be told, the Alaskan Malamute dream. Everywhere I look I see snow. OK, I also see M freezing, still taking pics of me (strange creature that she is). But the rest is snow. Snow in which I roll and run, snow which I smell and eat, snow which I love. I feel like I’m somehow crossbred and I’m the first Golden Alaskan Retriever.

and i'm back

OK, so it’s like… you know what I mean, you haven’t heard from me in a while, but I do have a good excuse: I am now officially and virtually undercover.
Yup, UNDERCOVER. That’s why I’ll start this new blog (the other one will be pending until further notice), change my name to Duck (d’oh!) and never mention about the place promised in our early days.
For those of you who don’t know me (yet), I am Duck, the Golden Retriever. I’ve just moved to Denmark, and I must say it was anything but a walk in the park: a 2-hour flight and a 12-hour train journey. But it was all worth it: I’m back with M* and gladly gaining back the 7 kilos I lost during the time we’ve been apart**.

But bad news travel fast, too. Seeing how things are rolling over and playing dead around here, this new blog, well, is going to be on the edge of boredom. There will be no storytelling about fighting neighbors or my eating every garbage I can put my paws on (underwear included), about my bonding in the park or eating apple pie almost every morning near the National Bank. No recounting of my lounging around every terrace we could find in the Old Town, no… lots of things actually.
Oh well, the ups and downs of living in what University of Leicester studies consider the happiest place on planet Earth. Somehow, I got a feeling that M will not be that happy on Christmas, since we’ll end up here alone, no tree, no carols, no friends, but that’s another story (a sad one, if I may add).

[24-hours break]

Well, after a good night’s sleep and a refreshing morning’s swim, it seems this blog is not going to be so uneventful after all. Did I just say swim? In late November? In Denmark? (fyi, yesterday it snowed for the first time this winter, aaa, autumn)
Yup, I did. And no, it wasn’t in the sea as you might think. It was in the little pond, near our house. M was walking ahead, I was sniffing around, a Mr. Darcy-running-after-Elisabeth-like rain was beginning to fall, a butterfly flapped its wings in Tokyo and the next minute I was swimming in the pond. To be more accurate, it was for the next 10 minutes that I swam in the pond.
I somehow think that in a twisted sort of way M was really proud of me. It was now crystal clear to her that no matter where I may roam, no matter in what language my name will be translated, I will always be ME.
OK, I may exaggerate a bit, but you never know what’s really going on in people’s heads so this might as well be it.
After my 10-minute swim, I came out of the pond and the utter fun was just about to start. M imploring me not to shake my tail feather anywhere near her, me pretending not to understand: all the way home.
Once home, you can easily imagine what followed: I took my first bath in Denmark. Though, it’s a bit too much calling it a bath. It’s more of a shower, given the fact that a tub is not such a common thing around here. So, today, 21st November, I took my first Danish shower.

Fasten your seatbelts, kids, it’s going to be a bumpy blogroll.

* I will also change her name from S to M, where M stands now for master.
** long background story short: M came to Denmark in late August, left me home, came back ASAP to have surgery in October, saw me, decided on spot that is high time to take me back with her, didn’t tell her parents, took a plane, changed 5 trains and now here I am, sniffing the rotten in Denmark.
